A Prediction

I myself am convinced that the theory of evolution, especially the extent to which it’s been applied, will be one of the great jokes in the history books of the future. Posterity will marvel that so very flimsy and dubious an hypothesis could be accepted with the incredible credulity that it has.—Malcolm Muggeridge, The End of Christendom (Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 1980), 59.

The current ID movement and the militant defensive posture of Darwinists today amply confirm Muggeridge's prophecy, IMO. He was ahead of his time!

I suspect before you see that, we will see concepts of intelligent design make their way into evolutionary dogma. Of course, scientists won't call it "intelligent design", but some other buzzword (like "natural ordering", perhaps). Even today they have no problem throwing around anthropomorphisms, and attaching the actions of a mind to blind processes. Nature is "clever" or "affirms life", for instance. Eventually they will realize they their beloved "chance" is nothing but ignorance of laws they don't understand or know about.
